My Acrostic poem by Caitlin
Calming time to relax
Happy faces all around
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
It’s time to get together with my family
Santa is filling up his sleigh with presents
Time to open presents and remember Jesus
Many special times to remember
Amazing celebration showing love
Singing lots of nice Christmas carols
Happy faces all around
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
It’s time to get together with my family

My Netbook Reflection by Caitlin
My Netbook Reflection 2013
This year I have found using my netbook to be successful. I have enjoyed using my netbook because, it is more easier to write with instead of writing all messy. Now that I have got my netbook writing is more easier. It writes more neater and if you make a mistake in your writing book you rub it out and it creates a big mess but on my netbook all I have to do is press backspace and it will delete the mistake that I have made instead of making a big mess. The mistake will be deleted straight away. The barriers in using my netbook are when you can’t get onto the sites that you want. Internet connection is annoying because when you need to do something important the internet isn’t working. It can get in the way of our learning. Burglars are a massive problem. Earlier this year my class got broken into they stole 4 netbooks and 4 chargers. My friends Angel and Isabella were feeling upset because their netbooks got stolen in the burglary.
The interesting aspects / parts to using my netbook are being able to access my Individual blog. My blog is like an online portfolio. I think it is interesting because people all around the world can view my blog and my family and friends as well. I can put create lots of blog posts on my blog. I have found using my google docs interesting because I have my own email and password. I can make my own documents and write a recount or instructions or anything I need to work on.

My Recount on Traffic Light Jelly
Traffic Light Jelly
One sunny morning my class Room 5 made Traffic Light Jelly. I love jelly but I have never tried Traffic Light Jelly before it will be a new flavour for me. To make our jelly we needed to boil some hot water, two cups of ice, wooden spoon, measuring cup, plastic cups. We made the Traffic Light Jelly after morning tea. Miss Paton and Mrs Kelly helped Room 5 make the Traffic Light Jelly. The first thing we had to do was wash our hands. When we all came back from washing our hands the table had all the equipment that we need to make the Traffic Light Jelly. I had to open the Jelly box full of jelly crystals then I poured it into the bowl. Miss Paton chose two people to pour in the boiled water. I got to stir the jelly mix with the wooden spoon.
I had to make sure that there were no more jelly crystals at the bottom of the bowl. Next we had to pour in two cups of ice, mix it and when we couldn’t see any more ice in the bowl it was time to put the jelly in our plastic cups. We put in 6 tablespoons of green jelly only half the class got to fill up their plastic cups. Me, Angel, Isabella and Taryn helped Miss Paton take the plastic cups to the Hall kitchen. We had to wait for 15 minutes until we went back to go and get them. Finally it was past 15 minutes, we went with Mrs Kelly to get the cups out of the freezer. We got back and were ready to put the orange on top of the green jelly. We took the cups back to the freezer. The jelly is waiting to be taken out. Now it is time to do the red jelly we do the same things that we did for the orange and green. We had to go to the Hall kitchen to get the cups full of jelly out of fridge. When we got back from getting the jelly out of the fridge we put in the red jelly YUMMY it definitley looks like Traffic Light Jelly. I think I will enjoy eating the Traffic Light Jelly. I really had fun making Traffic Light Jelly I hope we will be making the jelly again.

My Narrative on Judith the old lady
The grumpy old lady
Once long ago lived an old lady named Judith and she lived in Mangere. Judith was always grumpy, she never had any friends because people thought she was a meany. Everytime little kids stepped on her lawn she would run outside and tell them to get lost and don’t come back. She even scared the mailman. Judith didn’t have very good eye sight, she had to wear glasses.
Judith lived in a small house. She didn’t mind because it was just her living inside her house. One day Judith won some tickets to go and see the Jgeeks perform live. She said to herself “Who are the Jgeeks ?”. “I guess I have to wait and see”. The next morning she woke up at 12:00am and got dressed. The concert started at 4:00pm. She had a car but it wasn’t flash.
It was time to go she said “ Hopefully there is no noise at the dance performance”. She grabbed her car keys and hopped in her car. She was driving along the motorway. Suddenly her car broke down and there was a lot of traffic she cried “ What am I going to do?”. She was asking everybody if they could help “ HELP ME CAN, SOMEBODY HELP ME” but all people were doing were winding up their windows and ignoring her.
Until an old couple said “ I will help you”. They were both very old. The old man and the old lady were 62. The man had some cables to try and make the car go. He tried and tried but it didn’t work until the car made a noise. The car was finally working. It was too late for her to go to the concert, so she said thank you to the old man and his wife. She went home and never talked about that moment again. Her moods after this experience with changed for the better. She decided to look at herself and her and own actions. Judith thought life was too short to be miserable and to be much more calmer towards others. She had become nice and she lived happily ever after.

My own Narrative by Caitlin
My Narrative
Once long ago there were three girls. The girls names were Zoey, Claudia and Melanie. They always had fun together and they had exciting stories to tell each other. They were kiwis. One day Claudia and Melanie went for a holiday with their families. Melanie went to Australia and Claudia went to America. They were away for two weeks. That meant that Zoey was by herself. She didn’t like the feeling that she had no one to hang out with so she decided to take her dog out for a walk. The dog’s name was Jumbo. He was a big dog. Jumbo always liked going for walks because she liked running around in the fresh air.
Melanie was having so much fun that she had so many stories in mind to tell Zoey and Claudia. She would always send postcards to Zoey telling her about what she was doing and what she had been up to. Claudia always sent postcards to Zoey so she was updated on what she was doing. Claudia and Melanie were feeling sad because they weren't hanging out together. Zoey's parents decided that they needed a holiday so they went to Australia. Zoey shouted “Yay we might see Melanie”. The next morning they got up early, got dressed and drove themselves to the airport. Their flight finally came, Zoey was so excited on the plane. She always looked out the window to see if they were near land. Zoey fell asleep on the plane. They arrived in Australia. They left the Airport to find their car that they had rented.
They were driving through Australia to find their Hotel that they were staying in. Their Hotel was in the Gold Coast. It was very big but Zoey didn’t know that Melanie was in the Gold Coast. She staying at the same Hotel as her. Zoey and her family went to a theme park each day . A week had already passed and it was time to go home. She felt happy because Melanie and Claudia were coming back from their holiday but suddenly Zoey got a call from Melanie. Melanie said “My plane has broken down and we won’t be back. We might not make it back”. Zoey felt worried. It is a problem she thought. She didn’t know what to do she was panicking until she came up with an idea. She told the airport that she needed to save her friend. They asked a pilot to take the emergency helicopter. So she could find the plane and save all the passengers in it. She saw a plane that wasn’t flying and said “I think that is Melanie’s plane”. They flew down and tried to help them. Luckily they were just in time. They bought a little bit of gas to fill the plane. The plane started to fly again, everybody shouted “Yay we are saved”. They made it back to the airport successfully. Claudia just landed at the airport. She saw Zoey and Melanie. So she ran out of the plane and went to hug Zoey and Melanie. They all were happy that they were back where they belonged. They had lots of stories to tell each other and they lived happily ever after.
My Peer Assessment on Angel
This is my Peer Assessment that I did on Angel as you can see Angel has done really well. I had to check Angels Narrative to see if her narrative was alright with no mistakes. When I checked Angels narrative I saw that there were no mistakes. Angel and me checked each others narrative. I think that Angel has written a really good narrative. All that Angel needs to work on is describing what the characters look like and using a variety of language feautures and makin changes and proof reading and editing her writing.

My Retelling of the three little pigs
The Three little pigs
One sunny morning there were three little pigs. Their mum told them that they were old enough to live in their own homes. So they went off to find some stuff to build their houses. The first pig went to find some stuff to build his house and he found some straw. The second little pig found some sticks and the third little pig found some bricks. They started building their houses. The first pig built his house out of straw and it wasn’t very strong.
Then along came the big bad wolf and shouted
“Little pig, little pig let me in“.
The first little pig said “Not by the hair on my chiny chin chin”. The big bad wolf said “Then I'll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down”. So the little pig ran to his brothers house as fast as he could.
The first little brother said “Let me in”. So the brother let him in just in time. The wolf followed the little pig to the second little pig’s house. The big evil wolf shouted “Little pigs, little pigs let me in”. Not by the hair on our chinny chin chins”.
The wolf shouted “Then I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow your house down”. So he did. Luckily the third little pig finished his house just in time for the little pigs to hide in his house. The big bad wolf did not see where they went until the first little pig stuck his head out of the window. The big bad wolf said happily “Dinner time mmm”. So he ran down the hill and got to the third little pigs house and shouted “Little pig, little pig, let me in”. The third pig said “Not by the hair on our chiny chin chins”. Then the wolf huffed and puffed and he didn’t blow the house down. So he tried again but he wasn’t successful. He climbed up the chimney and fell into a boiling pot. The third pig looked out the window and saw the big bad wolf climbing up to the chimney so he took the lid off the pot and the wolf fell into the boiling water. That was the end of the big bad wolf and the pigs lived happily ever after.

My Report on Jean Batten
Jean Gardner Batten
Introduction
During the 1930’s Jean Batten became a very popular and well-known figure both in New Zealand and overseas when she made several epic solo flights in her light aircraft. She broke many records.
Jean Batten was born in Rotorua,New Zealand on the 15th September 1909. Jean Batten was the daughter of an Actress and a
Dental surgeon. She had three brothers but one died at birth.
When she was living at home she played the piano. She lost interest in playing the piano and wanted to become a pilot. She sold her piano to get her pilot license in England.
In 1934 she broke world records and flew her plane called the Gypsy Moth from England to Australia. It took her 14 days and 22 and a half hours . In 1935 she broke world records and flew from England to South America. She made a world record in the fastest time crossing the Atlantic Ocean. While she was flying she visited these countries: India, England, Australia, Burma, and Indonesia.
While she was flying she met a man who she became engaged to and he was a pilot too. Unfortunately he died in a plane crash. A while after that she met another man. but there was a war going on. Fighters were aiming for his plane and they got his plane. The bomb hit his plane and he died in his plane. Later on he was found by search parties. Jean didn’t find out that he died in a plane crash until later on. Jean was very sad to hear about her Fiance’s death.
Jean Batten found a hotel in Majorka and thought that she would take a rest. One day she went for a walk, then out came a dog and bit her on the leg. The bite was infected and she died later on that day in her hotel room in Majorka. She was burried in a 1982 Communical graveyard in Majorka. Her family found out 5 years after her death.
Jean Batten was best remembered for her flying success around the world. She has put New Zealand on the map and has encouraged women to become pilots.
